November Is Stewardship Month

News

In this month of stewardship, ESUMC Finance Committee Chair Delia Viljoen shares a word about how each of us is a vital piece of the "puzzle" that is ESUMC!

Pieces of a Puzzle

Figuratively speaking, “Pieces of a Puzzle” can mean that different ideas, components, or individuals can come together to find a solution or achieve a goal.

The question today is, What do these concepts, ideas and actions have to do with our Stewardship Campaign this month?

If you look around you on a Sunday morning, you will see members and friends of the ESUMC that you know. Some of them you have met on Sundays during the Worship and Fellowship time, or maybe at the “Talent Show,” or at the Annual Hike, or helping at the Wärmestube. We are all different, maybe from different countries and speaking different mother-tongue languages, maybe even coming from a different than Methodist background. Some of us were born in Vienna, others arrived when they were children, teenagers, adults or even when retired.

We are all like pieces of an ESUMC-puzzle; we all belong somewhere, and we have a specific place to fit with the other pieces of the ESUMC. Each and every piece of the ESUMC-puzzle has its unique place and role to play in our community and church. We all have the same goal to grow in our work and belief in the Kingdom of God. We gather to celebrate the love of God during our Sunday services, enjoy a cup of coffee during Fellowship Hour, see our children growing in Sunday School, and sing in the choirs. We are working together on the different committees in our church, learning during Bible study time and being active members of the ESUMC through many other ministries.

The big ESUMC-puzzle also has different components that play an important role in our church, such as our finances. The Finance Committee is responsible for the administration of the finances of the ESUMC. Our Pastor, representatives of our Church Council and other church committees, and other lay members serve on the Finance Committee. Without the payments of the Apportionment, our Building and Administrative costs, Pastoral expenses, the different program expenses like Sunday School and Fellowship supplies, various other ministries and our Mission projects, we would not be able to keep building or even maintaining our big ESUMC-puzzle. Without the continuous financial support of the Friends and Members of the ESUMC, and the different understandings and ideas of our members to find solutions towards financial matters, the “financial piece” would not be able to fit in the big ESUMC-puzzle.

The Finance Committee is dedicated to being part of the continuous building of the ESUMC-puzzle, to find solutions and to work together to further the financial health of the ESUMC.

During the month of November, the Finance Committee would like to ask all the friends and members, all the different “pieces” of the “ESUMC-puzzle,” to reflect and pray on your financial giving, your part in building this amazing puzzle.

The Finance Committee is grateful for all the financial gifts and continuous support!
