New York Annual Conference
President-Elect of the Council of Bishops of the UMC
Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It’s a joy to be able to offer greetings to you as you celebrate 150 years of Methodism in Austria. I’m Thomas J. Bickerton, I’m the Resident Bishop of the New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, and I’m also the President-Elect of the Council of Bishops of the United Methodist Church. It’s a joy to be able to greet you as you gather for this time of celebration and focus. You have a great history of resiliency in Austria. You’ve got a great history of caring for the vulnerable and having a focused ministry in your 150-year history. And my prayer is that as you begin year 151 that you will build on that great 150-year history as you press on to share the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ, as you provide relevant ministry for the people in your area and as you press on with a joyful passion of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. May God’s richest blessings be yours not only as you gather to celebrate, but as you focus for the road ahead and the journey that God is calling you to in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Blessings and peace to each of you this day. Amen.
